Laguna Beach Sawdust Festival
Summer is coming to a close, and what better way to send it off than with an incredible community festival? Laguna Beach provides the perfect canvas for the annual Sawdust Festival, a showcase of local art and talent that has been a Southern California tradition for years. As a NPO, their intent is to educate and inform the general public about the creations of art in laguna Beach. I have been to the Sawdust Festival a handful of times and, from a personal experience, it is an incredible time. Many of Laguna’s born and bred come out to experience the incredible food, the unique art, and the fantastic live music. The last time I was there a reggae band was leaving their soul on the stage in an effort to produce some of the best sounds the human species has ever made. I danced all night to the music these guys were giving us, they were pure electricity.
Connectivity, as does electricity, dominates the environment. The casual atmosphere sends your senses raging, beginning with sawdust feet for those of us in flip flops. If you arent wearing flip flops, you really should be here. Hundreds of people mingle and connect in an old school fashion with no boundaries and no tag lines. The young and old, the left and right, the stupid and smart; everyone is welcome at the Sawdust Festival. Spend some time talking with the vendors, they are likely to tell you remarkable things about their lives, products, and the community. The locals are loved here, as every thursday they can have free admission with valid Laguna Beach ID. Monday through sunday their hours are 10am-10pm, with the last date being August 30th.
Go. Try the food. Drink the wine. Oh yeah, by the way, there is wine. If you have never been, you will be elated you did. And if you are a repeat fan, good work supporting the community. Please, feel free to email me any reviews of this year’s festival. Any good experiences, funny stories, great purchases – we want to hear all about them. Your responses might be posted by me on this site for everyone to read.
